Spice Room Opens for Business

Columbia City, Seattle - December 26, 2009

For those who have waited patiently, you now have one more restaurant option in Columbia City.  Joining the growing list of fine eateries is the Spice Room.  Located next to Columbia City’s new Sushi Restaurant (Wabi Sabi).  This family owned Thai restaurant opened for business on December 26 with little fan fare to give the staff time to get their feet wet and allow the last few bits of construction to complete.  This writers’ dinner party was fortunate enough to stumble across the Spice Room on their first evening open and was in for a treat.  Of the four dishes ordered,  crispy garlic chicken, yellow curry chicken, phad sieu with prawns, and drunken noodle chicken, all were absolutely delectable! When the dust settled, this diner will save lots of time in the future driving to other Seattle neighborhoods to find good Thai food.  It’s now just a walk down the street in Columbia City! Just a note that the Spice Room is still waiting for their liquor license, but expects that in the first week or two of January.

Columbia City Tree Lighting

Columbia City, Seattle - December 6, 2009

With music, warm drinks, Father Christmas and soaring holiday spirit, the throng that gathered in Columbia City, Seattle last night cheered and willed the Columbia City Christmas tree to illuminate.  With cold temperatures that made it feel like the season, the crowd was initially worried that that it might not happen when the first big countdown fizzled with no lighting.  But rest assured the big guy, Father Christmas himself, led the the crowd in a second more energized countdown that did the trick and lit the tree!
