VISIT US

Columbia City is a historic landmark district in South Seattle, known for its international mix of restaurants and cafes, live music venues, Ark Lodge Cinema, locally-owned shops and businesses.  In the 1890's, Columbia City was the last stop on the trolley line from downtown Seattle.  Now, it is at the heart of the Light Rail line, 15 minutes from Sea-Tac Airport and 11 minutes to Downtown

NEWS ON THE STREET

Development News… As the Alta Columbia City at the former post office site continues to take shape, there’s another new project being planned for the corner of Rainier and Angeline, current location of Pho Bo Restaurant. The property has recently changed hands, and the new owner/developer CP Rainier LLC has begun the permitting process for a new mixed-use building with four levels of residential units over commercial and amenity space. The developer’s current (early) thinking is to provide 72 residential units, 3 small commercial spaces, and underground parking for 80 vehicles. The project architect says they hope to have permits a year from now and be ready for occupancy in late 2022.

Easy Come – Easy Go… We previously noted the arrival of the Columbia City Psychic Shop at the former Big John’s Barber Shop between Vino Verite and the Columbia City Alehouse. Well, after renovating the interior and installing their signage, on the eve of opening, the business owners broke their lease and disappeared. Building owner Tracy Wynn, John’s daughter, breathed a sigh of relief and has put the space back up for lease.
