COFFEE NEWS...Word on the street is that Olympia Coffee is underway on a thorough renovation of the former Starbucks. It may take several months before they’re ready to open. Meanwhile, Empire Espresso has opened up their second floor for customers; reports are that it’s pretty comfy up there.

WHAT THE DATA SAYS....City business licensing data indicates that there is a surprisingly large number of Columbia City businesses. Reports show a total of 210 licensed businesses in the District. Of that total, about 130 are storefront businesses or are tucked away on upper floors of the District’s commercial buildings; the remaining 80 are “home based”, located in the apartments of Business District residents.

Columbia City is a historic landmark district in South Seattle, known for its international mix of restaurants and cafes, live music venues, Ark Lodge Cinema, locally-owned shops and businesses.  In the 1890's, Columbia City was the last stop on the trolley line from downtown Seattle.  Now, it is at the heart of the Light Rail line, 15 minutes from Sea-Tac Airport and 11 minutes to Downtown

 Tish Gallow & Kate Bond

Tish Gallow and Kate Bond, pictured above with their donation buckets, are the Producers of BeatWalk, which is in its 25th Anniversary Year.  They have done a phenomenal job of expanding the number of venues, creating an amazing street scene and pumping up the participation and the energy.
